What is HArmonyCa™?

HArmonyCa™ is a dual-effect Hybrid Injectable. It contains two active ingredients, calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) and hyaluronic acid (HA). It improves the skin's architecture by providing an immediate lifting effect from hyaluronic acid and a sustained lifting effect from new collagen production stimulated by the calcium hydroxyapatite.

How do HA and CaHA work?
​
The hyaluronic acid particles work deep within the skin, where they help to replace lost volume for an immediate lifting effect. Calcium hydroxyapatite particles support the body’s own collagen production. The gel slowly disappears over time and a firm and dense collagen network is built in its place for a gradual, long-lasting lift. The clinical effects of CaHA can last 1-3 years.

What does the procedure involve?
​
After marking the areas of the face to be treated, the skin is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. An entry point is made into the skin with a small needle. This can cause an instant pricking sensation similar to when having a blood test. Then a blunt-tipped cannula is inserted through the entry point into the layers of the skin where the gel needs to be deposited. The syringe contains local anaesthetic which makes the procedure more comfortable. It should not be painful and if pain is experienced at any point, the injector must be notified.

What areas of the face can I get treated with HArmonyCa™?
​
HArmonyCa™ can be used under the skin in the deep dermal and sub-dermal layers in certain areas of the face, such as the lateral cheeks and the angles of the jaw. It cannot be injected around the eyes or into the lips as the skin in this areas is thin and delicate and there is a risk of lumpiness.

What makes HArmonyCa™ different from biostimulators or other dermal fillers?
​
Biostimulators and hyaluronic acid dermal fillers work differently and may not give the same results. HArmonyCa™ combines calcium hydroxyapatite with hyaluronic acid, capturing the potential benefits of both in one treatment. HArmonyCa™ offers the combined action of the hyaluronic acid volumising effect and the lasting collagen production effect from the calcium hydroxyapatite in one injection. Collagen formation can last for up to 12 months.

What is the post-treatment care advice?
​
After treatment, you should:
• Avoid any high-intensity exercise, exposure to sunlight, tanning beds or extreme weather conditions for 24 hours.
• As with most injectable treatments there may be some redness, swelling, irritation and bruising which are usually minor and resolve by themselves within 1-2 weeks. Bruising can be reduced with the use of Arnica cream or tablets. These can be obtained over-the-counter from your local pharmacy.
• Massage the treated areas if you feel any small bumps.

How quickly can I return to my everyday activities after treatment?
You should be able to return to your normal activities immediately after treatment. However, vigorous exercise should be avoided for 24 hours.

Will I be able to get HArmonyCa™ alongside other treatments?
​
You should allow at least 4 weeks between any other facial treatment or dental work.
